The Sidecar is one of many classic cognac cocktails and now one of my faves because it’s so easy to make. All you need is cognac, orange liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and sugar to coat the rim. The sugar is nice since it balances the tartness, but feel free to skip it if you’d like.

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 oz Cognac

• 3/4 oz orange liqueur

• 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice

• Garnish: orange twist

• Garnish: sugar to coat rim (optional)

Directions:

1) Coat the rim of a coupe glass with sugar, if desired, and set aside

2) Add the cognac, orange liqueur and lemon juice to a shaker

3) Fill with ice and shake until well-chilled

4) Strain into the prepared glass

5) Garnish with an orange twist
