Gin & Tonic

You can’t go wrong with a Gin & Tonic.

I opted to use a juniper-forward, London Dry Gin here (I used Highclere Castle Gin), but a citrus-forward, floral gin like Hendricks will work too.

For the garnish, I went with lemon and fresh thyme (that’s all I had around at the time), but you can use juniper berries, rosemary, grapefruit, lavender or anything that fits your taste and complements the flavors of the gin.

I also swapped my highball glass out for a copa de balón or balloon glass. Spanish G&Ts are traditionally served in this type of glass. The round shape traps the aromas of the drink, allows for more ice and garnishes, and is said to slow the melting of the ice which keeps the drink cold. It also makes for a prettier looking drink!

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients:

- 2 oz London Dry Gin

- 4-5 oz Tonic water

- Thyme sprig and lemon wheel for garnish

Directions:

1. Add gin to a wine glass filled with ice.

2. Top off with tonic water and stir gently to combine.

3. Garnish with thyme and lemon.

Cheers and enjoy!
